Asia and Oceania Association of Plant Mutagenesis
The Asia and Oceania Association of Plant Mutagenesis (AOAPM) was established in 2010 to promote the innovative development of plant mutagenesis research in Asia and Oceania and enhance the application of mutation techniques in the region. The association aims to collectively improve the efficiency of scientific and technological innovation in mutation research, facilitate the development and application of major new mutant crop varieties with high yield, superior quality, and multi-resistance traits adapted to global climate change, strengthen the international influence of mutation techniques, and provide solid scientific and technological support for regional food security. Member countries include China, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Japan, the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and others.
By June 2025, the association has jointly implemented six international collaborative projects on mutation breeding, organized seven international training workshops on plant mutagenesis techniques, trained more than 150 young professionals in mutation technology, and hosted over ten visits by high-level officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), including the Director General and Deputy Director General. These efforts have significantly advanced international exchange and innovation in mutation techniques across Asia and Oceania.
